Fashion With A Cause

How great would it be that if every time you bought something, money went to a good cause? Well lucky for us there is! Charities everywhere are putting out amazing items where money from every purchase goes toward a great cause. Companies like OmniPeace and (Product) Red™ are making being charitable a fashion statement. Not only do the profits go to a good cause but the items such as bags, tees, hoodies, tanks, hats, scarves and jewelry, are fashionable and cute. There are charities for every cause. Going green? Try products from Threads For Thought, where all profits from purchases go to several different charities including the NRDC. Fighting to end world hunger? Try pieces from the OmniPeace collection. Want to help AIDS in Africa? Then look no further than (Product) Red™ and M.A.C. Viva Glam products. Looking to help children’s health? Then look for Signorelli- Children’s Health Fund products. Whatever your cause, there’s a charity to support it.

Hot Trend: Summer Scarves

No you’re not seeing wrong. Summer scarves are taking over. I can honestly say this is a Hollywood trend I would actually wear. Scarves vary in width and are light weight material. The great thing about scarves is that they are so versatile. They can dress up the usual jeans and tank, or dress down a cute sun dress. Not to mention they come in all different styles, meaning you can pick which ever one matches your style. The best thing about them is that they are a cute, inexpensive accessory that can be worn in multiple seasons and found anywhere, which for me means I don’t feel as bad if I buy more than one, or spend a little more on a pricier version.

Summer Trend: Hippie Chic

Another blast from the past, this trend is straight out of the 60s. With a few simple twists you can upgrade this look from outdated to fashion forward. You can take this look from runway to reality by pairing earth-toned tops with bright accessories and bottoms, or by pairing them with simple modern pieces. An example of this would be pairing the Free People top (seen far right) with jeans and sandals. Another easy take on this trend is to simply slip on a breezy, casual dress with some sandals and call it good. To the left are two great tops, the Free People Embroidered Stamp Tank and Forever 21 H81 Petals Spaghetti Top, but you can find pieces such as these in stores everywhere. Some are steals, while others are a little more of a splurge, how much you spend is up to you. Either way, all are great pieces to add to any wardrobe.

Trend Alert: Tie-Dye

Some trends just keep coming back. Case in point, the tie-dye trend currently taking over fashion magazines and clothing store racks this summer. I personally love this trend. It’s fun, bright, colorful and definitely something anyone can pull off. You can choose to go all out with a tie-dye dress as seen to the left, or use a few fun pieces to add a splash of color to your daily ensemble. The look can be fun, beachy, boho, eye-catching, and chic. You can go mostly one color done ombre style like the Badgeley Mischka dress on the bottom left, or several different colors like the Diane von Furstenberg dress (top right). And you don’t have to drop tons of cash to be part of this trend. You can find great tie-dye pieces all over and even make them yourself. You can find this trend pretty much anywhere, and it’s a trend that you can wear summer after summer. Tie- dye is a great trend for summer, for an nice dinner or day at the pool, how you wear it is up to you!
