Trends come and trends go, but the one I’m seeing everywhere lately is sequins. In stores from
Nordstrom to
Victoria’s Secret PINK to
Urban Outfitters and in magazines from
Seventeen to
Harper’s Bazaar and from designers such as
Betsey Johnson and
Versace, sequins are everywhere.
Everything is being dazzled with sequins from shoes, to dresses, skirts, tops, purses, even leggings! Sequins are a fun way to add some color and sparkle to your everyday wardrobe. The question is where do you draw the line? Sequins can be fun and fabulous but it doesn’t take a lot to make them look to over the top and costume-like. To be safe don’t wear head to toe sequins. Pair sequined pieces with simple basics to get the effortless and everyday look. Also look for pieces that have sequined detailing instead of being 100% sequins, so it will look more fashionable and less costume-like. The most important part of wearing sequins is to have fun with them. So get out there and sparkle away!
